The conference was jointly organized by the China Electronics Standardization Institute, the Semiconductor Lighting Technology Standards Working Group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Jiangmen Municipal People's Government of Guangdong Province. In addition, the term "semiconductor lighting terminology" was released.

According to Wu Ziyan, executive deputy mayor of Jiangmen City, the national semiconductor lighting electronics industry standard was selected in the city in 2010, mainly because Jiangmen is one of the important producing areas of semiconductor lighting products in China. At present, there are more than 1,000 manufacturers or affiliated companies of semiconductor lighting products in Jiangmen City.
