According to the press release, Toshiba will position this year as "the first year of LED" and predict that the market for LED bulbs in Japan will be 2 million in 2009 (the penetration rate is 2%), and in 2012, it is expected to see 15 million (the penetration rate is 21). %); Toshiba also estimates that the company's LED lighting-related revenue will be 20 billion yen in 2009, and plans to increase it to 350 billion yen in 2015, of which about 30% will come from overseas markets.
According to the Nikkei News, Toshiba’s deputy director, Muromachi, said at the LED new product launch conference held on the 30th that the funds will be used to accelerate the development of LED components and will be used in their own LED lighting in a few years. The LED components of the machine were changed from the current external procurement to their own internalization.
Toshiba announced in April last year that in order to comply with the Japanese government's greenhouse gas reduction policy, the company plans to stop the production of 81 kinds of white heat bulbs for household-oriented E26 lamp holders with a goal of 2010. Fluorescent bulbs and LED bulbs are used for replacement.
