iSuppli: Global TV OLED shipments increased to $1.8 billion in 2015

Market research firm iSuppli recently released a new research report that the global LCD OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode Display) panel shipments will increase from US$10 million in 2009 to US$1.8 billion in 2015, making TV the main driver of OLED sales growth. Application products. The agency said that the OLED area for TV is larger than that of mobile phones, and the pricing is also high, which in turn drives up shipments.

However, despite the significant increase in shipments, the shipment of OLED panels for TV in 2013 only climbed 25,000 in 2009 to 850,000, and further climbed to 4.7 million in 2015. This is still very close to the upcoming shipment of LCD TV panels reaching 232.6 million units in 2013.

iSuppli pointed out that the current average price of 11-inch AMOLED (active matrix) TV is about 2,500 US dollars, while the 42-44 inch LCD TV panel is only 704 US dollars. Due to limited process and limited production, OLED TVs will continue to maintain low shipments and high prices in the next few years. It is expected that OLED TVs will remain small and high-end at least until 2015.

iSuppli also said that LG Display is expected to launch a 15-inch AMOLED TV this Christmas (2009).
