In the afternoon, the official OLED announcement ceremony brought the event to its peak, with participants expressing confidence that OLED would soon become the dominant force in the television market.
The event was supported by the China Electronic Video Industry Association and the China Electronic Chamber of Commerce, while key figures from Suning Yunshang and Gome Appliances also attended. During the discussions, Skyworth’s CEO Liu Weizhi emphasized that while the TV market is saturated, OLED TVs have introduced new value and could become a breakthrough for the industry. He expressed hope that OLED TVs would enhance brand awareness and market share in the high-end segment.
LG Display President Lu Xiangde highlighted the competitiveness and potential of OLED TVs, stating that the technology would redefine the display industry and eventually dominate the future TV market. Since LG Display began mass production of OLED panels in 2013, its products have gained widespread recognition from TV manufacturers globally. By 2017, the customer base had expanded to 13 companies across China, Europe, and Japan. At IFA 2017, major global brands like LG, Skyworth, Konka, Philips, and Panasonic all showcased their OLED TV models, signaling a growing trend in the industry.
LG Display has significantly expanded its OLED panel production capacity, aiming to reach 1.8 million units in 2017 and 3 million in 2018, with a target of 6 million by 2020. These efforts are driven by the increasing demand for OLED TVs worldwide.
