China's first commercial quantum private communication network, specifically designed for government and party agencies in Jinan, has successfully passed expert review. The network was officially accepted and put into service on December 12th. Comprehensive tests on confidentiality, security, and coding rate all met the design requirements, marking the completion of the entire quantum communication system.
The network is a major breakthrough in secure communications, leveraging the unique properties of quantum mechanics. Quantum states cannot be perfectly copied, and any attempt to intercept or clone them will introduce detectable errors. This ensures that data transmitted through the network remains absolutely secure.
Wang Guangquan, an expert reviewer for the Jinan Party and Government Quantum Communication Network, stated that the performance of the quantum communication part was thoroughly tested. Additionally, the traditional network and management systems were evaluated, and all components met the original design specifications.
The quantum private communication network in Jinan allows users to generate at least 4,000 encryption keys per second, ensuring robust data protection. This level of key generation supports high-speed, secure communication between all authorized users within the network.
Zhou Fei, Assistant Dean of the Jinan Quantum Science Research Institute, emphasized that this network is the first truly operational quantum communication system following the Jinan Quantum Communication Experimental Network. It serves as a model for future large-scale implementation and could be expanded across the province and even the country.
