Skyworth sales first to promote the Chinese TV market

In the wake of the iPhone 8 being confirmed to use OLED screens, recent online leaks in the U.S. have revealed images of four Apple TVs. According to these photos, Apple TVs are also equipped with OLED displays. As Apple continues to adopt OLED technology across its devices, industry experts believe that OLEDs, known for their superior performance, will soon become the next major display standard, gradually replacing traditional LCDs. In China, Skyworth stands out as a pioneer in the OLED TV market, having invested heavily in this technology for years and leading the way in innovation. Skyworth was the first Chinese company to make significant strides in the OLED TV sector. Since 2008, it has been actively developing OLED technology. The company launched China’s first OLED TV in 2013, followed by a 4K OLED TV in 2015 and the world's first mass-produced OLED HDR TV in late 2015. In 2016, Skyworth introduced the S9D OLED TV featuring AR technology, and later launched the first domestically developed OLED TV, breaking foreign technological dominance. By 2017, the company had expanded its OLED product lineup with models like S9-I and S9300, and in 2018, it unveiled the Wallpaper OLED TV — a stunning design as thin as wallpaper. This variety of products has established Skyworth as one of China's largest and most innovative TV manufacturers. Skyworth not only leads in OLED technology but also surpasses many domestic brands in production scale. In 2015, the company acquired the Toshiba TJP plant in Indonesia, marking its first step into global manufacturing. This move was highlighted by CCTV’s "News Broadcast" program, recognizing Skyworth as a key player in the OLED industry. In 2017, despite a sluggish traditional TV market, Skyworth thrived with its strong OLED technology. According to AVC data, Skyworth sold 7.124 million units in the first half of the year, becoming the top-selling brand in China. It held a 14% market share in mainland China by June 2017. In June alone, Skyworth led both offline and online markets with 16.1% and 16.6% shares respectively. The rapid growth of the OLED TV market, which saw a 96% year-on-year increase, further solidified Skyworth’s position as a market leader. Looking ahead, Skyworth plans to expand aggressively overseas. The company aimed to sell 10 million units abroad in 2017, with 30% of sales coming from its own brands. By 2020, it hoped to reach 15 million units, with 50% from independent brands. With continued investment in R&D and international expansion, Skyworth is striving to become a global leader in the electronics industry.
