With the core technology to open the global billion-dollar market, “Nanchang Optical Valley” attracts many optoelectronic companies

Nanchang, a city along the Lijiang River, comes alive every night with a dazzling LED light show. Spanning 8 kilometers and involving nearly 300 high-rise buildings, this spectacular display not only highlights the city's unique charm but also holds the title of the world's largest fixed sound and light show in the Guinness Book of World Records. What many may not realize is that almost one-third of the LED lights used in the show are produced locally in Nanchang. As the capital of central China, Nanchang has been leveraging its advantage in silicon substrate LED technology to move from a technical high ground to an industrial plateau. While international manufacturers have gradually withdrawn and coastal LED companies have sought to relocate, Nanchang has positioned itself as a key player in the semiconductor lighting industry. The vibrant lights not only illuminate the city’s nightlife but also symbolize the breakthroughs in Nanchang’s LED industry. Nanchang has long been recognized as a national base for semiconductor lighting engineering and a pilot city for large-scale LED applications. Over the years, it has built a solid industrial foundation, forming a complete LED supply chain. With a strong R&D team and skilled workers, Nanchang has become a core research and development center for silicon-based LED technology in Jiangxi Province. Despite the industry’s growth, most companies still struggle with inefficiency, lacking core patents and brand recognition. They compete primarily on price and scale, operating in the low-end market. However, all of this changed in January 2016 when a joint project by Nanchang University, Jingneng Optoelectronics, and other companies won the top national technology invention award. This achievement marked the third global blue LED technology route and broke the monopoly held by Japanese and American companies. This technological leap allowed Nanchang to open the door to the global billion-dollar LED market. Since then, China’s LED industry has had its own “Chinese core,” reshaping the global semiconductor lighting landscape. Today, more than 30 LED companies operate in Nanchang, contributing over 6.5 billion yuan in revenue in 2016. The city has developed a comprehensive industrial layout, with clusters in the High-tech Zone, Economic Development Zone, and Qingshan Lake District. Each area focuses on different stages of the supply chain, from silicon substrate chips to final application products. The formation of the "Nanchang Optical Valley" has attracted major domestic and international enterprises, including Ou Feiguang, China Energy Saving Lighting, and others. The LED industry now follows a "One Valley and Multiple Parks" model, featuring specialized industrial parks such as the LED Industrial Park, Intelligent Mobile Terminal Industrial Park, and Photovoltaic Industrial Park. With superior thermal performance and luminous quality, silicon substrate LEDs are ideal for high-power lighting. Jingneng Optoelectronics, for example, focuses on high-end applications like automotive lighting, mobile flash, and outdoor lighting. Its mobile flash products dominate the domestic market, while its automotive headlamp technology is gaining traction. To further strengthen the industry, Nanchang has launched global recruitment programs, attracting talent and investment. Through strategic partnerships, the city aims to build a high-end LED cluster and promote the development of the "Nanchang Optical Valley." Supported by favorable policies, Nanchang is pushing forward with plans to make the LED industry a key economic driver. By 2020, the city aims to achieve 100 billion yuan in main business revenue from LED products, with a significant portion coming from silicon-based technologies. In Nanchang, more and more optoelectronic companies are riding the "Nanchang Optics Valley" express train toward a bright future.

Solar Light Battery

Lithium iron batteries have revolutionized the solar street lighting industry, providing a reliable source of energy that is environmentally friendly and cost-effective. These batteries are rechargeable and designed to efficiently store and release energy, making them an ideal solution for powering solar LED street lights. Compared to traditional lead-acid batteries, lithium batteries have a longer lifespan and are much lighter in weight. This makes them a great choice for solar street lights, where weight and space are often at a premium. Additionally, lithium batteries can operate in extreme temperatures, from -20°C to 60°C, making them suitable for all kinds of environments.
