It’s often said that Nissan is a well-established Japanese brand, and while it may not be overly expensive in its home country, it’s usually pricier than some domestically produced vehicles. One interesting example is Nissan's coupe SUV, which surprisingly manages to sell around 100,000 units—or about 4 meters long—how do they pull that off?
Interestingly, Nissan has a sub-brand gaining significant popularity. Unlike Baojun, which is often seen as more of a local brand, Qin Chen has always been perceived as a domestic option. Initially part of Dongfeng Nissan, it now leverages older Nissan platforms and technology to produce localized models.
The image displayed here showcases the Kai Chen T90, starting at a guide price of 109,800 yuan, positioning itself as a mid-sized SUV. Equipped with a standard 2.0L engine delivering up to 144 horsepower, this engine is a common feature in older Nissan models.
From the side view, this vehicle appears more stylish than the BMW X6, representing a high-end model within the Qichen lineup. However, some car buyers, despite its competitive pricing, remain hesitant to opt for this model. They view it as a quintessential Japanese car, unyielding in its design philosophy.
Perhaps due to this perception, the T90, despite being a cost-effective option, hasn’t achieved sales levels comparable to those of Harvard. Turning to the rear, the overall aesthetic contrast with the X6 becomes clearer. While the body doesn't convey the same sense of grandeur, the tail design remains relatively flat. Overall, the Qichen brand maintains its unique identity while staying true to certain standards set by Nissan.
Among the numerous localized sub-brands developed by joint ventures, Qichen stands out as one of the fastest-growing companies, second only to Baojun.
The interior image reveals a touch of luxury. The central control panel features a large screen, and the central armrest area is generously proportioned. The interior uses substantial amounts of leather, and the price range isn’t extensive, with the top-tier model priced at 154,800 yuan.
With a length of 4.8 meters, the captain's cabin can comfortably seat seven passengers. However, due to the hatchback design, the Kai Chen T90 only accommodates five seats. Nevertheless, the rear space is quite spacious, and the seat design exudes texture, with the backrests offering excellent support.
This vehicle offers a blend of practicality and style, appealing to those who value both comfort and affordability without compromising on quality. Despite its Japanese heritage, the T90 presents a modern take on SUV design, striving to carve out its niche in the competitive automotive market.
