Recently, some Taiwanese media outlets reported that VIA's security chips may contain a backdoor for monitoring purposes. In response, VIA has strongly denied these claims and stated that they are considering legal action against the allegations.

The report was reportedly based on statements from a Taiwanese legislator, who cited a case in Hong Kong. According to the claim, VIA's VT3421/TF376 security chip was accused of having a backdoor designed to assist the Chinese government in monitoring illegal activities.

During a hearing, an executive from VIA, Steven Lee, admitted that there was a backdoor procedure in place, but he clarified that it was only used for testing purposes. This explanation did little to quell the growing concerns among users and industry experts.
