I have been working with Mitsubishi PLCs for a long time. Recently, due to project requirements, I started exploring Yonghong PLCs and found them quite different from what I was used to.
1. To download a program, go to File > Save Project > Save to PLC. Important: This method does not clear the internal scratchpad D/R registers.
2. For syntax checking without compiling, use Tools > Syntax Check. This is helpful for quickly identifying errors in the code structure.
3. To back up the program, use Tools > System Backup. However, if you only back up the ladder logic separately, you might lose data related to tables or specific instructions like servo positioning.
4. Unlike some other PLCs, there's no power-on constant ON special register. Instead, the function commands can be directly shorted via the bus. But there is a power-on initialization pulse available at M1924.
5. To monitor the PLC’s online status, go to PLC > Online > Select the corresponding project > Click OK. This allows real-time monitoring of the system’s operation.
Overall, while the interface and some functions differ from Mitsubishi, Yonghong PLC offers a solid set of tools for programming and debugging. It’s worth taking the time to get familiar with its unique features and workflows, especially when dealing with more complex applications or integrating with other systems.
