Facebook acquires Swiss computer vision project ZurichEye for Oculus

Today, there are media reports that Facebook has acquired the Swiss computer vision project ZurichEye. According to its website, the Zurich Eye project aims to give the machine the ability to “see” it. Its hardware/software system provides reliable, sub-centimeter-level precise position information for navigation robots in both indoor and outdoor environments.

In virtual reality, the visual experience is a key factor in the process of experiencing VR. Therefore, Facebook acquired the visual project company to provide visual support for Oculus Rift.
