DLC officially announced technical specification V4.1 new three product categories

On November 1, 2016, DLC (Design Lighting Consortium) officially announced the latest version of Technical Specification V4.1, which became effective on the day of publication. Only the last 5 months have passed since the last published technical specification V4.0.

Compared to the V4.0 being executed, V4.1 adds PL and U-type replacement lamps and Outdoor–Very High Output. Let's take a look at these new changes that deserve attention.

3 new product categories added

Newly added 4 pin replacement CFL PL lamp

LED company: DLC officially announced the latest version of the technical specification V4.1

The V4.1 released by DLC includes a PL lamp (Type A PL Lamp) that is compatible with the original Ballast for 4 Pin.

The following products are not included in the scope:

Lamp head specification is 2-Pin

Type B replacement lamp, direct use of phase voltage

Type C replacement lamp with remote or non-integrated drive power

The technical requirements are as follows:

New U-Bend Replacement Lamps

U-shaped lamps are added to the Lamps category at the request of DLC members. The requirements are as follows:

Newly added Very High Output outdoor light category

In terms of high-power outdoor products, HID products are relatively efficient, so DLC requires LED products to be more efficient in replacing HID products in order to achieve energy-saving effects. The author noticed that in this case, DLC increased the requirements of Very High Output and corresponding light efficiency for products with luminous flux above 30,000 lm. See the table below for details:

Each time DLC adds a new category, it is a new opportunity for this type of market segment.

Other modifications

As the number of applications for products increases, DLC (DesignLights Consortium) continues to summarize the problems encountered before and gradually modify the rules.

Modify the multiple listing rules: Revisions to Private Labeling/Multiple Listing policy:

Starting with DLC V3.0, DLC requires a single product or series of products to be required to provide a safety certificate, and no listing is required. The incentive test reminds you that DLC has revised the listing rules. From January 2, 2017, the listed products also need to provide the safety certificate corresponding to the listed company and model.

Further clarify the filling requirements for Rated data.

Adopt the latest version of ANSI C78.377:

Table 5 is modified to refer to the latest version of ANSI C78.377:2015, 2200K and 2500K products can also apply for DLC.
