Introduction to 3D Technology <br> Everyone knows that the focus of 3D screening is how to separate the images of the two eyes, and the process of separation is generally divided into two steps. The first step is that the images of the left and right eyes are separately projected on the screen, and the second step is to receive the images of the left and right eyes separately through the glasses.
The best way to separate the projections is to project the images of the left and right eyes with two projectors (so-called dual-machine 3D), which is the most direct and best, with no loss of brightness, contrast, saturation and resolution. Dolby Dual 3D and IMAX 3D do this.
The 3D system of the Sony 4K projector is a single camera with two 2K ​​images, which is essentially the same as the dual 3D.
The two-machine system uses two projectors, so it is expensive and rarely used.
The other methods are single-camera 3 times-frequency time difference alternate display, that is, the projector continuously switches the projection of the left and right eyes. This will directly lead to loss of brightness, and at the same time, it is prone to smearing. This type of system requires the use of a sync device either at the lens or at the glasses. Once the sync device is used, it is likely that a ghost image appears due to a mismatch in the left and right eye images due to improper synchronization.
For stand-alone system reception, it can be divided into active and passive.
Actively, if the synchronous electronic device is installed, the synchronous switch of the left and right lens shutters is controlled. This is the common XPAN-D in the country. Although such glasses are relatively expensive (known as 700 pieces, see the figure below), they are widely used in China because they are cheap. But XPAN-D synchronization is the most prone to errors. And because the use of shutter glasses is the darkest of all technologies, there is a strong urge to pick glasses. Some domestic cinemas, such as UME in Chongqing, the glasses used in the ring art are even worse than this ~ the temples are fixed and can not be bent ~ wearing super uncomfortable!
In the passive mode, the left and right eye images are processed differently by adding a synchronous image capturing device at the lens, and then received by the left and right lenses at the glasses.
Dolby 3D is commonly used in China. It is installed by separately adding a synchronized filter wheel at the lens to separate the light according to different wavelength bands. Dolby 3D system is easy to modify and the glasses are cheap (several tens of pieces, see the picture below), and the domestic application is also very extensive. But Dolby 3D has a huge impact on color performance.
RealD is the mainstream in the world and is used less in the country. This technology is installed by adding a synchronized Z-screen to the lens and then receiving it through circularly polarized glasses. Because of the need to install a metal curtain, the cost is higher.
The reception of dual-machine and single-camera dual-mirror systems is passive and uses polarizers. IMAX 3D uses a relatively backward linear polarization. The disadvantage is that the head can't be seen when you look at it. The circular polarization used by Dolby Dual 3D and Sony 4K Single Dual Mirror 3D does not have this problem.

Brightness: The unit is lumens and is highly dependent on the power of the projector's lamp. The farther the viewer is from the screen, the more the brightness fades when it reaches the human eye. Regardless of the curtain, the two-machine system is better, and the single-machine system is more serious (if you don't use the metal screen, XPAND only has 1/5-1/6 of 2D movies, and Dolby 3D is 1/3-1. /4). Visual distortion: The larger the angle between the video line and the projected light, the greater the visual distortion. The seat closest to the show window is definitely the least deformed. Visual distortion is fatal to the stereoscopic effect. Sitting in a very partial position will directly lead to the picture you actually see, which is very different from the original picture projected by the projector, which seriously affects the stereo effect. So for 3D movie viewing, it's important to pick a good position, even more important than what version to look at.
Field of view: One is the size of the picture in the field of view - depending on the size of the screen and the distance from the screen; the other is whether the position of the picture in the field of view is too biased when viewed in normal sitting position - generally the position in the middle of the last few rows is the best. Also better not to be blocked by the head. This is mainly to look at the design of the height difference between the front and rear seats of the theater.
Contrast: The difference between the brightest part and the darkest part.
Saturation: The degree of vividness of a color depends on the proportion of the color component and the achromatic component, gray. Dolby single 3D is not only a problem of saturation, but color reproduction has problems.
Glasses weight: The smaller the natural, the better, especially if the glasses are light, then the students who are prone to myopia should have two glasses to watch (for those students with different visions, be sure to wear glasses, otherwise they will be dizzy).
