DOE: LED wall washers and indicators need to be improved

The US Energy Administration (DOE) recently released the 18th round of Caliper test results. Test results show that compared with traditional lamps, embedded LED wall washers have been quite competitive, but there is still a need to improve the efficiency and indicators.
The object of this round of testing is the 17-inch embedded LED wall washer. The physical properties of these products vary widely, but they behave similarly in terms of light output and light intensity distribution. The amount of light emitted is basically the same as that of a 42W fluorescent lamp or a 35W ceramic metal halide lamp.
This round of testing lasted no more than 1800 hours. The 17-inch embedded LED wall washer has a range of 23-64 lm/W and an average power of 42 lm/W. Only three features exceed 52lm/W. Only 9 of them meet the minimum performance requirements of the DesignLights Alliance (DLC), which is 40 lm/W; only 7 符合 meets the current Energy Star spotlight 42 lm/W energy efficiency requirements. The wall washers of any light source have low efficiency, but there is still much room for improvement in the efficacy of LED wall washers.

In terms of color rendering index, the color rendering index of the 17-inch embedded LED wall washer is between 76-92, 13 is over 80, and it is acceptable for use in the building. The future color rendering index needs to be improved.
In addition, the manufacturer's claimed performance is also different from the actual, there are 4% of the light is less than 90% of its publicity, of which the particularly significant two lamps emit only 14% and 65% of the declared value; the remaining 12 out The amount of light is smaller than the declared value, but the difference is within 10%; another one is 14% beyond the declared value.
