When Vcc2 is greater than Vcc1 + 0.2V, the DS1302 is powered by Vcc2. If Vcc2 is lower than Vcc1, it uses Vcc1 instead. X1 and X2 are the external oscillation pins, typically connected to a 32.768kHz crystal to maintain accurate timekeeping. RST is the reset and chip select line, used to initiate all data transfers. When RST is set high, it activates the control logic, allowing the address and command sequence to be sent to the shift register. It also serves as a way to terminate data transfers. If RST is pulled low during a transfer, the process stops, and the I/O pin goes into a high-impedance state. During power-up, RST must remain low until the voltage reaches at least 2.5V. RST can only be set high when the SCLK signal is low. I/O is a bidirectional serial data input/output line, responsible for transferring data between the DS1302 and the host system. SCLK is always an input, controlling the timing of data transfers.
