Since 2002, Ericsson has set up a recycling mechanism for customers ’obsolete telecommunications products based on ecological management standards. When customers have telecommunications equipment needs for recycling, Ericsson will arrange contractors to carry out base stations, switches, servers, batteries, feeders , Antenna, transmission line, optical fiber line, card board, iron frame and spare parts, etc.
The recycling manufacturers that Ericsson cooperates with must fully comply with the 80 regulations related to the recycling process, equipment transportation, post-processing, burying restrictions, and ethical responsibilities, and carry out product removal, dismantling, and classification, and finally material recycling and burying. At the same time, Ericsson will adopt strict ecological management standards and be responsible for the entire process to ensure that the recycled products meet the environmental protection requirements during the entire processing and disposal process. Customers will receive a destruction certificate and analysis report at the end.
Ulf Pehrsson, vice president of government and industrial relations at Ericsson, pointed out: "WEEE's requirement for equipment recycling or reuse is 75%, and the proportion of waste and landfill is less than 25%.
