Global Microprocessor Market

Global Microprocessor Market iSuppli released a report today that the global microprocessor industry in the second quarter of 2010 has achieved rapid growth, but Intel, AMD's old friends have basically maintained their respective market share.

Note: The so-called microprocessors here include x86, RISC and general-purpose processors of Other architectures and are not limited to the PC x86 market.

In the previous quarter, the total revenue of the global microprocessor market increased significantly by 34% year-on-year, and PC shipments also increased by 22.8% year-on-year, down from the same period of last year by 4.3%. Obviously, the PC industry has emerged from the downturn of the economic crisis and is entering the fast lane.

In terms of revenue, Intel’s current market share is 80.4%, which is 0.3% lower than the 80.7% peak in the same period of last year, and 0.1% higher than the previous quarter.

AMD's share is 11.52%, an increase of only 0.04 percentage points year-on-year and a quarter-on-quarter decrease of 0.18 percentage points. In addition, other manufacturers such as VIA accounted for 8.1%, a slight increase year-on-year and a month-on-month.

Suppli also pointed out that about 38% of notebooks shipped in the second quarter were equipped with integrated graphics core processors, namely the Intel Arrandale Core I5/I3 series, which also represented technological advances.
