Recently, Philips Lighting in the Indian government's public LED bulb lamp bidding project, offering "price killing" to participate in the bidding for a 9W LED bulb with a price of only 0.57 US dollars (about 3.8 yuan). This price is 30.8% lower than the price of the bidding product in March this year.
The Indian government's LED lighting replacement program has been the focus of LED lighting companies in emerging markets since last year. The Indian government plans to implement an LED lighting replacement program in 100 cities by March 2019. According to the plan, 200 million bulb lamp bidding projects will be launched this year.
Previously, in the third quarter of 2015, the Indian government’s bid price for bulbs was expected to be $4.47. By the fourth quarter of this year, the Indian government expects prices to fall to $0.66. However, the Philips bid for $0.57, hoping to win 50 million bulbs for the bidding.
The industry believes that the price of Philips will increase the level of competition in the Indian market. Previously, Mulinsen Lighting, together with Jingyuan Optoelectronics, cooperated with local Indian companies to assemble LED bulbs in the local area.
