Intel will release 32-nanometer chips for tablets and mobile phones next year

Intel still has not given up its dream of tablet computers and mobile phone chips. Over time, Intel will do better. In the first half of 2012, Intel will release a chip code-named "Medfield" to replace the Atom Z670 processor for tablets.

Intel has not yet disclosed the details of the "Medfield" chip, but it is certainly better than the 1.5-Ghz single-core thermal design power of 3-watt 45-nanometer chips. Once 32-nanometer and 22-nanometer technologies are used, thermal design power and power consumption will be better.

Intel may show on the chip at the IDF (Intel Developer Forum) conference. However, Intel may not provide more details. Once Intel uses 32nm technology and "Medfield" chips, standby performance will be much better than the Atom Z670 and Oak Trail platforms.

Intel CEO stated that Intel is working with some mobile phone manufacturers. And "Medfield" is very suitable for mobile phone power envelope. An Intel processor called "Clover Trail" will replace the "Oak Trail" tablet processor. This processor will be introduced in the second half of 2012 before the release of Windows 8.
