Cloud service applications are heating up

IDC believes that China's cloud computing service market is gradually maturing. With the macroeconomic rebound in 2010, Chinese users are increasingly keen to invest in cloud computing, including cloud computing infrastructure, the development of existing cloud services, and the expansion of new cloud services.

In the IDC report "Top 10 Forecasts for Cloud Services and Cloud Technologies in Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan) 2011: Response to "Mainstream Cloud"" (document number: #AP6684401T), IDC analyzed that cloud computing will affect the region in 2011 Ten trends in the IT industry. Among them, China is very different from other parts of the world in terms of many cloud computing related conditions, so the future development of cloud computing in China will also be different. In this regard, Zhou Zhengang, research manager of IDC's China Enterprise System and Software Research Department, believes: “For China’s cloud computing market, the penetration rate of government policies, user size, network bandwidth, virtualization, and other technologies are completely different from those of other countries. It means that there will be a cloud computing model with Chinese characteristics."

In the context of economic recovery, IT's role in corporate business and competitiveness has begun to return to the focus of attention, and cloud computing is also a key factor in promoting this trend. At present, most IT work can be implemented in the form of infrastructure, platforms, and “application as a service” through cloud models. IDC predicts that as the cloud service delivery model matures, higher-level work (including business processes, consulting, design, and management) will also implement the cloud service delivery model.

“This trend will eventually lead to an IT architecture through which all the services, processes, and systems needed to achieve the best and fastest business operations can be fully managed, acquired, and used by business managers. There is no so-called 'IT' service but only necessary services in the architecture, said Chris Morris, IDC's Asia Pacific cloud technology and cloud service research director.

Chris added, "This means that the CIO's main responsibilities will go beyond the traditional scope of inspecting suppliers and safeguarding IT operations. The future CIO's responsibilities will be more focused on business operations, management and coordination of relationships. Therefore, even in the CIO's In the eyes, technology itself is no longer the key."

However, at this stage, even if the focus has gradually shifted to business, technology is still indispensable. Whether it's a private cloud, a hybrid cloud, a public cloud, or even a more traditional IT platform, technology is still a core element in the transformation of various IT services. "All CIOs should now focus on whether their choice of IT services can help companies do this. Any existing IT deployments, plans and strategies should focus on how to make the IT industry transition from technology-centric to business-focused. The CIO should focus on those IT services that can facilitate the transition to 'technology independence'," added Claus Mortensen, IDC's chief analyst for emerging technology research in Asia Pacific.
