Radeon HD 6970 officially postpones for a month

Fudzilla.com today claimed to have heard from reliable sources that AMD has given the latest official release date of the Radeon HD 6970 - December 13. This will be half a month longer than the originally determined night of November 22, but it will still be able to catch Christmas.

In fact, earlier this month, it was reported that the Radeon HD 6970 may be postponed, and the BIOS and drivers have not been distributed to partners at all. However, the specific reasons were unknown at that time. Many people speculated that it may be due to insufficient TSMC yields. Just after the GeForce GTX 580 came on stage, the Radeon HD 6970 was exposed because Texas Instruments was unable to produce enough new DrMOS power components before it was forced to postpone it, and is tentatively scheduled for release on the 29th of this month.

Today, December 13 is the official time given by AMD and should not change again. Under the fierce attack of GeForce GTX 580, AMD urgently needs to fight back in the high-end market, but fortunately the Radeon HD 6970 is not too late, it will surely appear before everyone before Christmas. Moreover, AMD now has Radeon on it. HD 5970, under Radeon HD 6800/5700 series, still able to withstand a while.

As far as we know, the partners still haven't got the final BIOS and drivers for the Radeon HD 6970/6950 so far, and they hope to get it at the end of this month.

As far as performance is concerned, there is still no sign of slightest improvement, and only Radeon HD 6970 can be expected to accumulate the final strength and strive to regain the honor of the fastest GPU.

According to the official road map released by AMD, Radeon HD 6970/6950 is scheduled for the year. The new flagship single-card dual-core Radeon HD 6990 has been postponed until early next year.
