Google and Dashlane Launch OpenYOLO to Help App Password Management

On August 4, the US Eastern Time, Dashlane announced cooperation with Google to jointly develop an open source project named OpenYOLO. YOLO is an abbreviation for "You Only Login Once." This project allows developers to obtain passwords stored in the password manager so that users can log in to Android devices more easily and securely.

Specifically, the end-user's experience is: For example, if you want to log in to WeChat, you need to enter a password. Then if you install password management App1, then you need to get the WeChat password through App1, but App1 requires You first enter the App1 authentication code (also a password). However, if you have OpenYOLO at this time, you can use the help of this open source API instead of manually entering the authentication code required by App1, and look for App1's authentication code directly from App2 (if you have saved App1 in App2). Number authentication code). In general, in order to eliminate the need to manually enter a password, a number of password managers are uniformly standardized.

It should be noted that the main leaders of this project are Dashlane and Google, but the statement also mentions "other password management companies in the industry" but does not mention any other companies in detail.

For this, Dashlane’s spokesperson said: “Some of the famous companies in the industry may have participated or expressed strong interest, including 1Password, LastPass, Keeper, Keepass, etc. Once the technical documentation and code are released, we will have More other partners."

Previously, Google had done a similar project on its own. Last year it launched a password management service called "Smart Lock" to manage user's password information on Android. Dashlane said Smart Lock will be integrated into OpenYOLO.
