Cirrus Logic has introduced digital TV codecs CS42324 and CS42325 to help address the challenges of audio signal management for complex digital TV system designs.

The CS42324 features a stereo analog-to-digital converter, a four-channel digital-to-analog converter, an input and output multiplexer, line level input buffers and output drivers, and an analog-to-digital converter running at different sample rates. The codec operates from a 3.3V single digital supply and a 9V or 12V analog supply, enabling 2Vrms input/output drive capability and advanced multi-bit delta-sigma data conversion at 24-bit conversion rate and 96kHz sample rate. . Personalized digital sound control such as 0.5dB steps, selectable soft ramps and zero-crossover conversion ensures no breaks. Channel squelch can be implemented by hardware or software control to further improve sound quality and eliminate noise and breaks in power cycling, power switching, and clock changes.

The CS42325 and CS42324 are hardware and software compatible, with one of the three stereo output pairs with an on-chip stereo headphone driver. High compatibility provides manufacturers with a scalable audio solution that helps them reduce the development of the entire product line.
