Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the launch of a new series of high-intensity blue-light SMDLEDs based on sapphire, which provide efficient InGaN technology at a lower price than standard InGaN blue LEDs.
The six new SMDLEDs in the VLMB41XX series provide low-cost illumination for a wide range of applications, including backlighting in automotive instrument panels and switches; indicator lights and backlights in telecommunications systems, audio and video equipment and office equipment; LCDs, switches and general purpose The flat backlight of the logo.
These devices have a 60° half-intensity angle, a high light intensity ranging from 45mcd to 112mcd, and an ESD withstand voltage up to 2kV, in accordance with JESD22-A114-B. The devices in the new series are packaged in EIA and ICE standard PLCC-2 packages consisting of leadframes embedded in white thermoplastics with an internal reflective layer filled with epoxy.
The PLCC-2 package preconditioned according to the JEDEC Level 2a standard is lead (Pb) free and RoHS compliant. CECC compatibility with infrared, gas phase and wave soldering processes simplifies the process. For automatic component insertion, the PLCC-2 package is in the form of an antistatic 8mm blister tape in accordance with DINIEC 40(CO)564.
Samples and production quantities of the VLMB41XX high-strength SMDLED are available now, with lead times of five weeks for larger orders.
