ENERGY STAR and UL certification: "knocking the door" for LED products entering the US market
——Mr. Li Sheng (Directy), Director of CTI China Testing
It is reported that CTI China Testing will hold the LED Lighting Product Standard Interpretation Workshop & Workshop at Shenzhen Hengfeng Haiyue International Hotel on April 23 and 24, and interpret the latest standards and UL standards of the overall LED lights. And research. So what are the characteristics of this seminar? To this end, this reporter interviewed Mr. Li Sheng, Director of CTI China Testing and Testing.
High-tech LED: I heard that CTI will host the Energy Star and UL Standard Interpretation Workshop and Workshop. Why choose these two themes?
CTI Li Sheng: Energy Star and UL certification are the two most basic certification requirements for LED lighting products in the US market. They are also the most important and the most difficult requirements. The ENERGY STAR standard for monolithic LED lights was finally released on December 3, 2009 after three drafts, and was requested to take effect on August 31, 2010. After three years of development, ANSI/UL 8750 has finally been released, providing LED lighting product manufacturers with a standard for testing product safety. It is necessary to meet the requirements of these two sets of standards, so that products can enter the US market, which is a basic and important "knock-on". However, these two sets of standards are very new. At present, only a very small number of enterprises have passed the certification. Most enterprises are advancing in the process of groping, paying a lot of unnecessary research and development costs, and taking a lot of detours, so it is the most difficult. Two sets of standards. Many customers have requested that we organize such a standard interpretation seminar, on the one hand, can systematically study key standards, and on the other hand, can solve some practical problems on the spot.
High-tech LED: There are many different seminars in the LED industry. Why is this conference called “Standard Interpretation Workshop & Workshop Why only for LED tubes, bulbs and street lamps? How is it different from a general seminar?
CTI Li Sheng: As the name implies, there are two obvious characteristics: First, “standard interpretationâ€, locking in key standards for in-depth systematic interpretation, involving IESNA LM79, IESNA LM80, UL8750, UL1993, UL1598, Energy Star Requirement and US FCC electromagnetic compatibility Standard; second, "Workshop", adopting a working group approach, focusing on product categories focusing on LED lamps, bulbs and street lamps, allowing students to take samples of their own factories, using the most familiar samples and cases. In-depth study and understanding of standards, while solving specific problems in the actual work, directly save the cost of seeking institutional assessments.
High-tech LED: Many seminars before CTI were free. What is the main reason for this charge?
CTI Li Sheng: CTI often organizes some professional seminars in the process of technical marketing. Some are free, some are charged; some are held in star-rated hotels, some in CTI's training room, and sometimes in important customers' factories. The standards involved in this time are relatively systematic and very important, and there are many contents. Therefore, we have chosen a five-star hotel with good facilities and other aspects. At Hengfeng Haiyue International Hotel, the class size is limited to 35 people. Participants are better able to learn the standards and actually solve some practical problems in the student's work. In addition to the basic catering accommodation, the tuition fee will be refunded to the student company for 800 yuan. In the future, the student can use the cash to enjoy the service at CTI.
High-tech LED: What unique highlights does CTI hold this meeting?
CTI Li Sheng: We have adopted a combination of seminars and workshops. The highlights are many, mainly reflected in the following aspects:
Highlight 1: Organize at the request of our customers, and really solve the doubts and practical problems of the students. The above mentioned two sets of standards are relatively new and difficult. Many enterprises have encountered various problems in their actual work, and they cannot be solved in a timely and effective manner. They have paid a lot of unnecessary research and development costs and have gone. Less detours.
Highlight 2: The curriculum content is novel and systematic, and the course lecturer is authoritative and professional. About the "E. Energy Star" seminar, CTI is the most qualified institution to share with Chinese companies. In mid-November 2009, CTI accepted the NVLAP Energy Star Testing Laboratory qualification audit from NIST, and was the first laboratory to be audited outside the United States. The understanding of ENERGY STAR-related standards such as LM79 and LM80 is in place, and the standards-related developers and drafters have discussed and exchanged many times. In mid-March this year, they went to the CIE International Lighting Conference 2010 held in Vienna. CTI always takes the most cutting-edge information and the most professional detection technology in the pulse LED industry. Regarding the UL standard, of course, UL's engineers are the most authoritative. This time we specially invited UL engineers to interpret the UL standard.
Highlight 2: The curriculum is novel. Classroom Workshop work study group form, combination of lectures and discussions to ensure the quality of the students, allowing students to carry their own samples for on-site case discussions, and can really help the students solve some practical problems in the work;
Advantage three: the price is extremely high. In addition to a good learning environment, the company will also refund 800 yuan of vouchers for the student company, and will be able to enjoy cash at CTI in the future.
